You Were Wrong
You saw her glance across the room
Thought she was lookin’ straight at you
You straightened up, gave her a grin
Thought she was reelin’ you right in
You told the boys, "She’s into me!"
Bought her a drink, all nice and sweet
You leaned in close, heart on the line
But brother, let me tell ya—here’s where it went blind
If you thought she’d ask you out… You Were Wrong!
If you thought she’d spin you ‘round… You Were Wrong!
She walked on by, didn’t even blink
Left you standin’ there, too stunned to think
If you thought you had a chance… You Were Wrong!
She laughed a little, flipped her hair
You swore it meant she really cared
You shot your shot, you played it bold
Then she said, "Hey there… my boyfriend’s cold."
You turned to see a six-foot-four
Linebacker type walk through the door
You took a step back, looked for the signs
But buddy, it was clear—love ain't on your side!
If you thought she’d ask you out… You Were Wrong!
If you thought she’d spin you ‘round… You Were Wrong!
She kissed her man, then waved goodbye
Left you standin’ there wonderin’ why
If you thought you had a chance… You Were Wrong!
Next time you see those eyes shine bright
Better make sure you read ‘em right
Not every smile means love’s in sight
Some girls just like to be polite!
If you thought she’d ask you out… You Were Wrong!
If you thought you had no doubt… You Were Wrong!
She walked on by, left you in the dust
Better luck next time, adjust that trust
If you thought this was your song… You Were Wrong!
